AWDC (All Wheel Drive Club) 2026 season
Car 10.
The 2026 season starts with changes to the steering column over the winter break (click here) and last minute rebuild (new ATB's) of both front and rear Diff's after an issue with the rear axle was found to be the Crown wheel bolts becoming lose and backing out causing all kinds of swarf and debris to be circulated around.
N.B. when using a "pegged" Diff assembly and the Ashcroft ATB's the flange on the ATB needs to be machined down to 162 mm, Ashcroft can do this for you but you need to let them know when ordering.
AWDC 2024 Round 1
(Our first event of the 2026 season)
Walters Arena Neath south wales.
We are running the AWDC championship again this year running as car 10.
First run of the first event of the new 2026 season start after a long wait at start, however the run is good with no significant issues. its the first time the car has been run with the new steering column set up and this feels quite good. the course is technical with a lot of tight and rough corners and a long fast track towards the end back up the hill.
Run 2 is again from our point of view quite uneventful and the times start to improve, we got held mid course on run three coming up behind an incident after a long fast and blind bend in the track, so we get an average time for this lap. Run 4, turns out to be the best of a short day, the driver is even starting to enjoy the challenge of the technical finish line approach.
Run 5, turns out to be our final run (one short of a "Finish". This is the lap it all went wrong, about midway the car starts making strange noises on over run so we stop to save the car from any more damage! once we get back to the service area we quickly find the the bolt securing the pinion assembly on the front Diff has come lose and backed out. we decide to call it a day to avoid the risk of more damage and cost to the newly rebuilt Diff , (Guess I Did something wrong on the assembly) so its back to the "Engine shed" to pull the front diff inspect and it will get a second rebuild with new Pinon bearings double checking the torque and applying Loctite on the pinion bolt, I also recheck and the rear.
