AWDC (All Wheel Drive Club) 2025 season
The 2025 season did not get started until round two as we where still fitting and completing the Axle change at the start of the year.
We also decided not to attend round three at Pickering, due to the distance we would have need to travel the timing (bank-holiday weekend) and the AT tyre requirements.
AWDC 2024 Round 2
(Our first event of the 2025 season)
Cloudshill Dorset (Bovington)
Another season racing with AWDC, our first race Cloudshill, Bovington. A new car number again "20" this year
After spending most of the winter changing the axles from Disco 1 to disco 2, this was the first event to test the changes. We did not know if these changes would work and if we could even complete one lap so after taking it comparatively easy on the fist couple of laps, finding the car handling so well was a big bonus, other than that we where having a lot of fun around a well laid out and exciting course.
After a several laps with all the cars churning up the wet muddy "puddles" these started becoming more like a ceramic soup, This got into our radiator meaning the engine was not keeping cool. We abandoned the final lap to save the engine, after the overheat alarm sounding for large parts of the previous three laps.
AWDC 2024 Round 4
Pen Y Bont (Mid Wales)
The organisers and set up team had set out a good technical challenging course that we really enjoyed. The early sections of the course where very intimidating, with off camber corners at the end of long grassy descents. So early runs were very tentative
We are still learning how the new suspension works but so far it has all been very positive and is defiantly providing improved handling (if not delivering faster times yet!)
We where quite lucky with the timing of our runs for the most part, run two was shortly after the morning rain shower, things where extremely slippery but we navigated the course without any major issues. we also managed to complete the final run of the day just before another significant rain storm in the late afternoon.
Whilst queuing for our final run of the day we realised we had a front offside puncture meaning we had to do a dash back to the pits before starting our final run.
We have a lot of sympathy for those stuck out on course or completing there runs for the day during the rain at the end of the day as we where trying to pack up.
After Clouds Hill and having had to miss the final run at that event, we spent ten's of hours cleaning the radiator of mud and the "Bovington concrete", also finding a lot of debris from as far back as the Ebbw Vale event last year, as a result the engine temperatures where a lot more manageable this week end.
The new front wings have been fitted after they were blasted off the car by water at Clouds Hill.

AWDC Round 4 Pen Y Bont
First run of the day, slow but steady, We where the 9th car of the line with many before us already struggling.
Second and slowest run of the day. we went in just after a rain storm, so the ground was wet and slippery with wet grass and bracken on top of the baked dry dust.
This video was our final run for the day, getting a bit faster all the time after a very tentative start. The Video does not do justice to how intimidating the first Mile or so was. Experimenting with a rear view camera as well as including the telemetry from the Camera.
AWDC 2024 Round 5
Minehead
We know Minehead can be a divisive venue, but we really like the place and this year, with the reversed direction and added tweaks like a really intimidating side-slope along the start strait and a really big jump/drop towards the end.
The course felt new, familiar, fresh and intimidating all in one, It was one to build up the drivers arm muscles, a real workout continually twisting and turning through the woods.
We had the privilege of being the last out on the first run however even with all the rest of the field having traversed the tracks it still felt quite Lose! We believe we also managed to complete all are runs before anyone else.
At the end of the day we came away with second in class and eighth overall, so really very good results all round.

AWDC Round 5 Minehead
Run four, This was not our fastest run of the day but we defiantly had more speed at some points than run six that was quicker overall., Go figure.
Run six this for us and our best of the day, I believe we where faster on on other runs, obviously did not all add up There is a rear view on this just for a bit of fun..
The telemetry may be a bit unreliable on these videos due to large parts of the course being under significant tree cover.
AWDC 2024 Round 7
Whaddon
Whaddon this is a venue that we have come to enjoy it has never been the same twice, last year extremely wet, this year a storm threatening but the ground hard and dry. This year the course was very challenging and hard.
The Event however did not start well, with a pair of very small (probably insignificant) cracks in the rear pan-hard rod mounting and the car breaking down exiting the scrutineering. The staring issue we eventually found a faulty switch to the main high pressure fuel pump, but not before we had more issues on Lap one. Laps two and three went with out significant drama and we where really starting to enjoy the challenges the course presented, everything from big drops and jumps to crossing badly rutted (cross tracks) fields.
Lap four did not end well! about 2/3rd s the way around at the only real wet bit the driver misjudges the corner into the muddy puddle and goes off line. Unfortunately this was much deeper with a massive rock step out of the hole. Hitting this took the wheel off and that was the end of our event. we were able to make track side repairs to get the car back to services but we did not have all the parts to fix the car fully.

AWDC Round 7 Whaddon
Run one, our usual steady start with a stop mid course with the intermittent fuel pump issue.
Runs 2 & three getting better and reasonably uneventful
Run four. And it all goes wrong, as the driver takes a bad line and a wheel comes off!!
AWDC 2024 Round 8
Walters Alisport 100
Walters has not done us any favours over the past couple of years with broken gearboxes and loosing tyre only to fail to finish yards from the finish line. This year, however, we has a really good weekend and a lot of fun, with the fast flowing and challenging course laid out, fine weather and good company. the car behaved well and we had no serious issues. Finishing both days, mid field in the results that’s a win for us.
The only real bad points if you can call them "bad points" we ended both days with slow punctures, in both cases these where not evident until we returned to the service area. On one of the runs in the middle of Sunday the car felt like it was taking a lot of steering input to keep it in the lines, on return to the services and after careful checking we found one steering ball joint had some very slight play, replacing this seamed to improve things for the rest of the day.
On this event it was an interesting learning curve the tracks evolved and got harder to drive as the ground became harder and more cut up, at some points the breaking ruts meant it was almost impossible to keep hold of the steering wheel.
